The Prom!

Okay, so prom totally rocked! It was so much more fun as an adult than it was as a sucky teenager! They called it the "first annual" and there better be a second annual!! I will be first in line for a ticket for sure!
It was worth all the stress the week leading up to it brought. First I bought a dress online and didn't pay close enough attention to the sizes. There was a plus section with sizes from S to 3x, but the misses section also had a size chart S to 3x. I measured myself carefully and saw I fell into a XL but opted for the 2x instead. Took a deep breath and ordered it, except when I went back a few days later to look (I was posting the info on my weightloss blog) I noticed the size difference and I ordered what was probably equivilent of a size 14. Ohhhh shiznit! Worried until the dress got here and it fit. Then? After losing 5 more pounds and finding some fat sucker panties, I try it on and it won't zip! You're kidding right? Nope. Stress!!!!!! Get this, I pull it over my head already zipped and alls good. A little more snug than I like, but it's on and the seams are holding. Phew!
Now... my hair, and WTH is Brad going to wear?! Two days before the prom I find him these great dress pants at Walmart. Yes Walmart. Never underestimate the George line for men when on a serious budget! I bought a shirt but alas, my man was a smidge too big for it and it had to go back. It took calling 3 JC Penny stores in a 2 hour radius to find one that had his size shirt in a gray/silver color. Of course it was the furthest one away AND the last one we called. Sweet Jesus. Can't bitch cuz they did have one!
That just left my hair to contend with. Let me say up front I don't know the first iota about being girlie. Not a single thing other than having someone put acrylic on my nails for me. I enlisted my neighbor's neice Nicole who always looks great. She agreed and I sent her an idea I had for my hair called the "Edwardian". We thought it would be best if I straightened my hair first to make the twisties on the sides easier and then would curl the bottom after. Wouldn't ya know after I straightened it I decided I liked that better! She then suggested I do a "bump" in the front and fasten it down with bobbie pins (which I had the foresight to buy a shit ton!). About a dozen tries later (heres a free tip: don't marry a machinist who has an eye for balance and precision! He had her keep doing it over and over! LOL) Finally it was done and that left makeup. I showed just how ill-equiped I was to do it myself and Diane did my eye shadow. Holy fab! I need some lessons because damn!
